NEGOTIATION TRAINING WORKSHOP


OUTLINE

This half-day immersive negotiation workshop provides proven tools and techniques to influence and persuade others regardless of the circumstances.

These have all been repeatedly tested in situations where the stakes simply can’t get any higher. Participants will learn how to immediately apply them after the session.

The training is designed for anyone wishing to improve their communication and negotiation skills. It is particularly beneficial for those in sales, marketing, business development, L & D, talent acquisition, communications, customer service or HR roles.

The workshop concludes with an interactive tabletop exercise aligned against the FBI and Scotland Yard Hostage Negotiation Courses. It is based on a real-life negotiation, allowing participants to practice what they’ve learned in the session.

A follow-up, one-hour online team call is part of this training and can be scheduled approximately one month after the workshop. This enhances the implementation of the training.

AGENDA

The workshop is divided into three sessions. The content below is for illustration only and can be designed according to requirements. In-person events are approximately three hours, with virtual ones taking two hours.

Session 1

• Negotiation skill #1 (e.g. establishing ‘Red Centre’ mindset, & rapport)

• Negotiation skill #2 (e.g. communication barriers & blocks to closing deals)

• Negotiation skill #3 (e.g. avoiding emotional hijacks / Level-5 listening)

• Real business, hostage, or life case studies to highlight key points

• Attendees practice the skills

Session 2

• Negotiation skill #4 (e.g. dealing with difficult people)

• Negotiation skill #5 (e.g. overcoming others’ limiting beliefs & patterns)

• Negotiation skill #6 (e.g. dealing with conflict, red lines & when to walk away)

• Real business, hostage, or life case studies to highlight key points

• Attendees practice the skills

Session 3

• Negotiation skill #7 (e.g. overcoming objections)

• Negotiation skill #8 (e.g. creating a ‘client for life’ / closing the deal)

• Real business, hostage, or life case studies to highlight key points

• Attendees practice the skills

• Final group negotiation exercise

• Summary and next steps


OUTCOMES

At the end of the training, participants will be able to:

• Approach difficult conversations and negotiations with ease.

• Regulate their own emotions as well as those of others.

• Adapt communication approach to meet the other person's emotions, needs, wants, and expectations.

• Apply their understanding of how subtle cultural differences impact negotiations.

• Avoid those 11th-hour sabotage attempts by other parties.

• Maximise their chances of closing the deal every time.

• Have the confidence to sit at any negotiation table with anybody anywhere in the world.
